Google Launches Google Wallet

What is Google Wallet and will it be replacing your wallet or your customers wallet any time soon?

Google wallet is Googles phone app to eliminate the need for paper money, coins, or plastic. Google Wallet stores all of your payment card information and with just a tap can process a payment transaction.

Who can use the Google wallet app?

For now the only people that have access to the app are Sprint Nexus S G4 users. Google anticipates that the app will be available for other phones in the near future.

Where can you use the Google wallet app?

You can use the Google wallet app any where you see this sign. It's a sign we are already used to seeing at gas stations and other locations where we have a credit card. So adapting to tapping our phone instead of passing a plastic card over the sign might not be a big adjustment for some of us.

I did a search in my local area, Phoenixville PA, and found a list of locations where I could use Google wallet.
Here are just a few of them: Whole Foods, WAWA, Rite Aid, Sunoco, Anthony Wayne Cinema.
Here's a link so you can find out what businesses in your area are already using the app. Click here to see  Where the Google wallet app works in your area.

How secure is Google wallet?

Google claims it is safer than your wallet because the app has a pin code, so it is actually more secure than your wallet which you could lose.

How will this affect you if you are a small business?

It will be interesting to see how fast and how many people adapt to this new technology. I think a lot of people have been looking for a solution to a wallet full of cards for every store they frequent. What about you as a local vendor. Will you have customers who walk into your store and want to make a purchase but the don't have cash and only use electronic transfers to make payments. How soon will it be before you will have to adapt?
