Google, Yahoo, Facebook are all publicizing that they are 'mobile first', does this tell you something?
It should! Because Google predicts that there will be more searches completed on a mobile device than a pc or mac in the year 2013. This means that when someone searches for a product or service on their smartphone Google does not treat all websites alike. Google wants to display mobile friendly sites to their mobile customers.
So what if you have a responsive design website that adjusts itself to any size screen. Take a good look at it on a smartphone or small tablet. Can you figure out how to contact you? Can you find hours of operation or a map for directions? Probably not.
There are several ways to set up a mobile website. You can do it yourself, this is the least expensive and requires a minimum level of technical skill. These sites come with ready made templates that can be modified to suit your basic needs. These sites include features that consumers are looking for when they are searching on a mobile phone. If you don't want to create a site yourself you can hire someone else to set this up for you (usually for under $500) with a monthly maintenance fee for updates to coupons, etc. You can also have a custom site set up ($500 +) that gets rid of the all of the buttons and creates a sleek look with additional features like text messaging.
Whatever way you choose to use to create a mobile site it's important to get your MobiVantage now.
